Step away from the chair and go outside 5-240-C
April 19th, 2010 · Uncategorized
I have decided I spend way too much time in my den/study/lab/workshop. Since the grass is probably about ankle length, it might be a good time to mow the lawn and weed, and trim the bushes and generally get some fresh air.
Another new thing Im going to do is to chart my mood index. After my last appointment, I honestly couldnt quanitify any improvement with respect to mood , ability to concentrate and focus and the like. I am going to lmake this particular blog daily thing so Im going to code an index to chart my progress( or lack thereof)

Mobile computing
April 18th, 2010 · Uncategorized
It looks like Im finally going to make some progress in developing the mobile phone apps. I have talking up the projects with my friends in Chicago and I think that we have found a market segment that there can be sustainable growth. I think the key thing here is to remember that “mobile” is not necessarily “phone” or “netbook” or “ipad” for that matter, its portable sensors and “information conduits” I am trying not to get too hung up on the jargon or the “initials”…. I am more interested in making it beyond the conceptional frame in my head to something that can be articulated into a real product.
They (whoever they are) have been saying that the desktop is dead or is dying and I am starting to believe that development will become a bit more personal and mobile; but with all the power projection a person needs to accomplish the days work. To tell you the truth it feels a lot like it did when started to see desktops with decent horsepower. Very exciting. The mobile hardware is powerful, there are decent toolsets and software platforms and a decent market opportunity.

Housekeeping
February 7th, 2010 · Uncategorized
I have almost completed the mother of all housekeeping chores in my office. I have sorted and culled though nearly 24 years of bills, legal papers, program listings and project files. While it was nice to go and wade around in all those papers; they invoked both good and bad memories It really was good to purge the 80 to 100 pounds of papers I have accumulated over the years and have deemed, somewhat reluctantly, unessential. This is a weight that has been an albatross around my neck or probably a better portrayal, the plaque that has formed in my psyche, constricting the “vessels” until it can no longer function. The purge is a good thing and is keeping with my commitment to move forward and get on with my life.

I need to get moving again
January 27th, 2010 · Uncategorized
I cannot believe how complacent I have become. I am surrounded by pounds of paper that represent half baked or half completed projects and tasks. I cant really cop to not having the time as I seem to have an abundance of it. I think motivation is really the culprit; I just cant seem to get all that excited about anything lately. My goals had not been met mainly due to poor implementation or bad planning. At any rate, I have been pretty much a train wreak lately. That has got to stop like now. Focus… Focus …That’s is the order of the day. I think I will start with that mountain of paper on my desk. Its always hard to get started again but what the alternative?

I have a dream last night
January 18th, 2010 · Uncategorized, eureka, problem solving, sucess
I had a dream last night but unlike most of the dreams I have, this was fairly constructive. I have been learning a couple of new computers languages and I have had a bit of trouble with some of the conceptual fine-points.I’d struggle with the code examples I was working with but I would fail to grasp the concept and have one of those “aha” moments I expect to have.
Well in this dream I was able to dream or project an example of the situations which giving me fits. In the dream I found a solution… when I woke up, I immediately wrote the solution down and was able to work in it out in code. Amazing how the sub conscience will work for you sometimes.
Now if I can only do it more often!

Depression is….
November 2nd, 2009 · Uncategorized, banishment, depression, utility
Depression is a mean ugly bully that sucks your energy, distracts you from the things that are important in your life. Moreover it has way too much influence on the decisions you make in your life. Imagine what you could do if you had all the time and money and love you ever needed in life and the only thing that prevents you from achieving and getting what you want out of life is this annoying little imp of a house guest that tells you things like you are not strong enough or smart enough or even energetic enough to accomplish anything.
I honestly blame genetics for this little payload. my family tree is littered with creative sensitive types that never realize how wonder and how talented and creative they were because that ugly little imp. I made a conscience decision to banish the bastard; hes no longer welcome in my home or in my life. Its time to move forward and for get what he told me over the years… after all it was hardly constructive.
